1.2 available, get it while it’s hot

February 3, 2009 by kidjan

Like the title says: 1.2 is out.  We added a new explore feature which will recommend feeds, vastly improved interfaces for adding feeds through auto discovery and explore, numerous bug fixes, landscape view, etc.

Let us know what you like, what you want (or still want–sorry, we didn’t get everything, but we track every suggestion made for DaisyFeed), what works, and what doesn’t.  Any news for us is good news.

Thanks again, and enjoy Daisy Feed 1.2  :)

I just installed daisy and I can’t figure out how to edit or delete a feed (not just one post, the entire feed.)

  2. admin on February 8th, 2009 5:45 pm

    Steph -

To delete an entire feed simply navigate to the category to which you have assigned the feed. Tap the EDIT button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. DaisyFeed is now in edit mode and you should see a red minus sign next to each feed in the category. Tap the minus sign next to the feed you wish to delete and then tap the DONE button in the upper right corner. The feed is now deleted.

You can also learn more about editing feeds here

    Hope this helps!

This is my second look at this app, after it’s initial release. So far so good… Nice improvements!

How do i rearrange the order of feeds within a given category?

  4. kidjan on February 9th, 2009 5:54 pm

    greg,

Currently we don’t have a way of changing the order of the feeds within a given category, but it’s definitely a feature that’s been requested and will likely be implement in a future release. I’ll update our feature list to note your request and hopefully next release will be the one. :)

Thanks again for the second look, and let us know if there are any other features you’d be interested in.

    I can’t subscribe this RSS link: http://feedproxy.google.com/engadgetchinese

Thank you, sounds good! Looking forward to it :)

    Two other things:
    - Have the online documentation content load in Safari, currently it’s too dificult to navigate (no back button) and cannot bookmark specific threads. I can always exit the app and navigate to the daisyfeed website manually so this isn’t a big deal. Maybe just add some forward and back buttons and call it good.
    - Consider an “All Feeds” category.

    Greg,

Those are great suggestions. I’ve entered both of them into our bug tracker so we won’t forget.

    When will you support feedburner?
    Why delete my post?

  9. Mowd on February 13th, 2009 12:18 am

    sorry, forgot my last post.

    Mowd -
I just checked out the feed in question.

    http://feedproxy.google.com/engadgetchinese

Seems to be working fine for me. How are you trying to add this feed?

    thanks
    dB

  11. Mowd on February 13th, 2009 5:41 am

I have tried to add rss link from other sites, and they all worked fine.
I also found another rss link I can’t read any topic. It always return “0″ topics.
    like this one http://feeds2.feedburner.com/blogspot/dFse

I can use other RSS software to subscribe these RSS feed in iPod Touch G2, so it’s not the network problem.
I love daisyfeed very much, and I hope there is a solution quickly.
Maybe I can help you to find and slove this problem.
    Thanks.

I’m very disappointment that no one answered my question. Daisyfeed is a good rss reader, but now i have to delete it. Goodbye.

I realize 1.2 was just released and I thank you, but is the next version currently in progress?

There’s at least one suggestion I really hope you’ll consider… full titles when viewing RSS feeds. At least make it an option because personally (and I think others would agree) there is more value to seeing the full title, or as much of the title as possible, versus only a portion of it.

Also, what’s the possibility of RSS feeds updating simultaneously instead of in an ordered fashion from top to bottom? This is less of an issue, but I was just curious.

One more thing, it might be nice for the sake of consistency to display the feeds similar to that of emails or podcasts. I was messing around with a screenshot of DaisyFeed experimenting with a few UI changes and came up with the following. Some things to consider anyway….

I will try to keep quiet now as I think I’ve thrown enough at you ;)

  17. kidjan on March 2nd, 2009 12:53 pm

    Greg,

The next version is always in progress. ;)

I know DB (the other dev) wants to do a UI redesign for the next release, so I’ll make sure to add your mockup to our features backlog so he has it as a reference. I like your mockup, and I really appreciate the effort.

As for feeds being updated simultaneously, that might be a possibility but there are some complications with multi-threading/database updating/etc. I think DB may have actually written it that way to begin with, but had some problems with the implementation. I’ll add it to our feature list and see what we can do.

    Mowd,

I’ll look into the site, and I can likely fix it in a subsequent release of DaisyFeed. Please understand that A) we do this because we like it, not because we make money off it (…quite the opposite…), and B) we have real lives to attend to so DaisyFeed doesn’t always fit into our schedule. Please be patient.

Any updates on the next release?

  19. Josh on August 29th, 2009 3:42 am

    Feature Request

    1. When reading news stories it would be good to have on the page “1 of 54″ so you know how many messages are still left to red in the feed

    2. When there are too many items in a feed, you have to click to download 5 more. Would be good to have the option to download all - this would also make it easier to delete all messages in a feed, as it currently only deletes the ones that are visible.

    Love the app.

    Keep up the good work!

  20. Naveed on October 4th, 2009 11:19 pm

I can’t download the app from the app store

  21. admin on October 5th, 2009 3:58 pm

Yeah. I let my iPhone developers license lapse so apple yanked my apps. However, I’m woking on a great game call League of Legends. If you’d like an invite to our beta, ping and i’ll get you a key.

    More to come ….

  22. Dulce on March 13th, 2010 1:11 am

Hi, thanks for this app :)
However, there’s one feed that quit working. How do I fix it?
For months, I had received feeds from this link but last month or so, I received a message, “this link is not a working link” or something like that. I was wondering how can an “once worked fine” link can become an inactive link all of a sudden.
